Could anybody tell me if it is possible to put a clear coat edible finish on gum paste figures ( I'm making a horse) without a air brush and how ??? My cake is due Friday. Please help!!

Not sure what type of clear finish you want. I haven't put a finish on my figures made from gum paste. IF you are wanting a really shiny finish - you can mix 3 parts vodka, 2 parts corn syrup and paint it on with a soft brush. This will be really glossy. I have not used this - so don't know how bad it will streak or how sticky it will be.

You can use an oil spray to give a glossy appearance to gumpaste leaves, so I don't see why you couldn't use it for larger gumpaste figures. The gloss fades to a sheen after a day or so. You only need to spray it on lightly.

You can buy the sprays at the supermarket - the ones you spray onto a frypan if you're trying to cut back on oil in your cooking... hope you know what I mean.

How is it coloured???? coloured paste, painted or dusted???
