I just made this for the first time tonight kind of by accident. I used the "Durable Cake for 3D and Wedding Cakes" recipe from CC but used liquid vanilla chai coffee creamer instead of water and I used DH spice cake mix. I had a little batter left over so I made some mini cakes and OMG! It is soooooo good! Just thought I'd share icon_biggrin.gif

I just got some today and I have some spice mix in the shop..

I think I"m going to run there tomorrow and make it..

Thanks for the idea!!

I'm going to try it in a white cake and the spice as you suggested.

I also have some modified cream cheese icing in the fridge.... thumbs_up.gif

Cream cheese icing would be really good. I made some caramel frosting and it's a bit sweet but still yummy!

got to admit the scraps alone don't do it for me for the vanilla chai cake either Risque. In fact I like the cake, I think it's ok, the reason I simply LOVE the white cake with cinnamon buttercream is because everyone else raves about how good it is. Have to admit it's not my favorite flavor, but I love the look on peoples faces when they try it. My dad hates sweets and he ate 3 peices of it! (I used about 4-5 TBSP. though for a little stronger flavor) and I find with this cake 1-2 days only enhances the flavor making it taste better. Like I said, it's ok to me, but my picky family and friend love it!

My God that was so good and my whole family who do not like sweet frosting just loved it it went in one night. By the way I have two grown son;s and a 20 yr. okd grand son who atr it all! I ohly got to Lick the bowls LOL

Well, I'm going in on Monday to finish the cake, I baked it today. it's just a cake for my web page so I will be bringing it home to try it.

I will also bake the Spice chai tomorrow.

Do you use the ground cinnamon to make your cinnamon buttercream or do you use cinnamon oil?

I will let you know what I think of them late on the week. I also am coming down with a cold, so nothing is tasting right...

Thank goodness I have no orders till next week!

things slowed down for the past 3 weeks to nothing and they picked up again...go figure..lol

I make a yellow cake with cinnamon and cinnamon cream cheese buttercream. For some reason, the men seem to like it really well. I think they like cinnamon stuff. I've tried the cinnamon oil and ground cinnamon and I like the ground cinnamon way better. I've used it for just regular butter cream also and it is good too.

I used the ground cinnamon in mine. Actually I made it and put it in the fridge and forgot to pull it out till 1 hour before I needed to use it icon_surprised.gif OOPS, stupid me decided "let's microwave the sucker to soften it up" Well it was the first time using my new microwave and....you probly already guessed it....it seperated! icon_eek.gificon_cry.gif I threw it in the freezer and stired every 5 -10 minutes till it started to harden. Time was running short so I oozed it onto the cake and told everyone it was a CINNAMON BUTTERCREAM GLAZE. I thought for sure I would get busted by the group of women there for the birthday party I was throwing. NOPE, just the opposite, they raved about how perfect the glaze was and how much work I put into all those cakes...yadda,yadda,yadda. icon_wink.gif just thought I'd try cheering you up from your sick bed Risque, hope you feel better.

Once I can find some cinnamon oil I want to try it too.

awwww..I"m still up, now I"m having a headache..lol...watching Platinum Weddings after Bridezilla.

The Bridezilla episode, the bride paid just as much for her cake as she did her wedding dress!

This Platinum Wedding is a home girl from Miami...she just got herself a designer dress for over 6G!

Ohhhhhh...my thobbing head! lol

I asked about the ground cinnamon vs oil, cos I was wondering about having the little cinnamon flecks in the icing...something you wouldn't have with the oil.

Hey, I'm SURE that you knocked those ladies socks off with your CINNAMON GLAZE...Sounds like a great combo with a nice cup of coffee!
