I've been using royal icing for years... and the ingredients seem similar, as does the method... what's the difference?

Thanks... icon_smile.gif

Good question, I've used both with good results and my 1st wilton instructor (only wilton instructor) said to us that you'll get the same results with thinned down royal icing. ....I've only used the color flow once because I thought it would dry faster...it didn't.

Color Flow mix has a few different things in it, but either it or Royal icing can be used to do the same method.

Wilton tells you that the Color Flow mix makes a stronger, shinier piece, where as the Royal icing will dry matte.

Those that use royal icing regular also say you can make it shiny by putting it under a reading lamp to dry it.

I usually use Royal icing because I tend not to do enough color flow pieces to keep the powder on hand. If they made a smaller container of it I would probably use it more.
