I want to do everything I try right the first time and get really down on myself when they don't turn out. I just tried NFSC and RI. First time with the NFSC and second with RI. They are ok, but no where neat y'alls. I know practice makes perfect, but dang it I want it now!

I could not get the RI thin enought for the life of me. I used all the water plus tons more and it still was a little too stiff, but I made it work. Not the prettiest things in the world, but my 3 year old will eat em.

I always use MMFondant ... they come out perfect and hassle free.
I also use Sugar cookies, Wilton's recipe (NO chilling one).

I strive for perfection and I think I found what I want to make my cookies come out like that from a magazine.

Stephanie, I am the same way and it's so hard to not beat myself up. I think most of us are like that.

But just realize that it takes lots of practice. You will get there. If what you are working on doesn't turn out like the pic in your head, that doesn't mean it's not good either. : ) Other's will not notice your perceived imperfections.

Look at all the great musicians in the world, did they pick up an instrument and know immedietely how to play it? NO. Why would you think cakes would be different? : )

Relax and have fun. Eat the evidence if you dont like what you made, no one has to ever know, LOL. : )

Hugs,
Amy

I love the cookies and we all strive for perfection but sometimes "if at first you dont succed try and try again." I wish my family would appreciate baked gifts except like my husbands whole family is like crazy and only eats like store bought things. They get me but I think its a Trinidadian thing where they either cook it themselfs or buy it from the store. I try and make food for them and they look at me like I am crazy. My family on the other hand loves baked goods my mom flyies her cookies all around the U.S.
