oh yeah......they stink stink stink.......I have them too!!!!Wilton sells them...do you have anywhere to get Wilton supplies....theirs are okay........I think the americolor ones are the ones I've heard the best things about!! I have some kopykake ones I got from ebay and they work REALLY well but they're kinda dried out.....by REALLY well....i mean the tip is super nice....broad on one edge and thin on the other.....kinda shaped like a calligraphy pen tip, one edge fat, one edge thin. If mine weren't dried out they'd be awesome

here are photos I have using the different brands

treasure map done with the Betty Crapper writers
I have to go over all of the black using wilton gels and a toothpick.....those markers stink. ( I do use them to write on my son 's sandwiches for school lunch though and they work "ok" for that....not good for detailed work though

these heart cookies were done with the kopykake markers....I had to go over the names 3 times to get them this dark (because mine were dry)

these baby shower cookies were done with the wilton fine tip markers......even though it was a fine tip....you can see it's still not THAT fine of a line...but they worked nicely and didn't bleed all over and weren't dry.....I would use them again......but again, not the finest of lines

Hope this helps you some

icon_surprised.gificon_surprised.gif KAYH:

Your cookies are REALLY very PRETTY!!!

WOW!!

And I love the idea of giving all the children's names on them! icon_smile.gif

Now if we just didn't have those nasty new rules in the schools where they won't let anyone bring in TREATS!!! icon_mad.giftapedshut.gifthumbsdown.gif

But I just wanted to let you know I loved your work on those. thumbs_up.gif

knoxcop1,
I was so saddened to see you say "no treats" in schools.
My kids are now out of elementary school, but heard from others here in Michigan that that is the way things are following now.
I'm so glad I was able to have full run while my kids were young in school. I'd be so bored with parties now if it was all too healthy. That is IF they even allow parties anymore!

Tiffturtle,
Americolors writers are excellent. I had a set that I opened over a year ago and used them again 2 weeks ago and they were fine. Lots of color, not dried up at all. Plus the tips are easy to work with. I know you can get them at www.countrykitchensa.com at a good price. (I haven't seen them here on CC yet though icon_sad.gif).

I love it...it makes it all worth it to see kids get so happy over such simple stuff...but i tell you ..it broke my heart when i had a little boy tell me..this is great, my mom never makes anything like this for me...it was just cupcakes..how can you never make stuff like that for your kids...ahhh

any way...thanks yall for the advice.

TiffTurtle, it's not a new thing.
I can remember all the time I was growing up there were kids in the places we lived who would come over and just GRAB for burnt and broken pastries and cakes that WE wouldn't touch. Their moms didn't ever bake for them either (something I cannot fathom) so even those were special to them... very sad.
