That is really bizzare huh!!! Yeah but no one can even come close to creating anything in the neighborhood of what we have here at Cake Central!!!!!!! It's all of us great decorators that make this site what it is today!!!!!! Thank you for giving us a heads up on that site!

I wonder if this site and cakescanada.com are spinoffs of CC, just for other countries? It may be possible that CC runs these sites. Of course, I don't know, just speculating. They both look just like CC.

Maybe they found out how wonderful it is to have a good forum and just couldn't resist. And, then again, maybe it is CakeCentral branching out. (That would certainly be nice.)

It looks like CC might have branched out - many of CCer's that are on here living in the UK are on that site as well. I think it is awesome - everyone should have a wonderful site like this, to share ideas and get help from.

It could be just as stated above that CakeCentral is for the Central America? lol if that makes sense, and the CakeCanada is for Canada and so on and so on.... I dunno just a thought but as also stated nothing compairs to CC!!! I've even left the Wilton Forums to come here full time I don't even check back to Wilton forums anymore because they change your posts and they have to pre-approve everything and it takes forever!!!!

i don't think anyone is being a "copycat", there are alot of different cake forums out there.

You could be right about it being a UK 'version' of CC - I can certainly see the point of it, I'm from England and find myself constantly baffled by US measurements and brand names! I just hate to think of the lovely community that's been built up here being divided up because of our locations, afterall, in cyberspace, it doesn't matter how far apart we are, we can all still be neighbours!

When I said 'copycat' I meant the actual look of the site (except for the colour) was very like CC, I am aware that CC doesn't have a monoploy on cake forums!

Then again, imitation is the greatest form of flattery!

The look of that forum being similair to this is because of the forum software used. If you look around at many forums of any topic, not just cakes, you'll see the same look. For example mikenchell.com/forums looks the same, and it's about building small campers!

Just to clarify:

Cake Central is not affilated with CakesCanada.com or this Cake Shack site.

As was mentioned earlier, the forum looks similar because they are using phpBB forum software which is the foundation of our forum code as well.

If Cake Central were ever to expand into new domain names, we would certainly advertise it.

I've always heard that imitation is the best form of flattery.

Is it a relatively new site? There are certain areas that don't have any posts at all.

I don't see it as a "copycat" site. It doesn't hold a candle to CC. icon_biggrin.gif

I don't think it is very new. It did not have very many registered users and one lady has done the vast majority of the posting. I put it in my favorites just so I can check on it later, but I doubt I will use it much. I don't even use the Wilton forums anymore.
