I have 2 questions on chocolate transfers. . . . I am going to be making a Hello Kitty birthday cake for my goddaughter's 3rd birthday (she loves Hello Kitty) and I would like to do Hello Kitty and some of her friends in chocolate transfers to put on her cake. .. these are my questions - can i do the chocolate transfers on clear sheets that are used for overhead projectors? Also, how do you attach the CT's onto the cake? Do you "glue" it with royal/buttecream icing? And what about stand-up figures right on top of the cake, do you use a toothpick to stick into the cake? I guess that was more than 2 questionsicon_smile.gificon_smile.gif Please any help would as always be appreciated!

Do you mean having the outline on the projector sheet? If so you can always tape wax paper over it, I've used the clear sheets for designs before but don't know if it will release the chocolate. I would think so but I've never tried.
If you are laying the chocolate on the top of the cake you don't really need to glue it, it'll stay in place. For the side of the cake you would glue. For stand up figures I would attach lollypop sticks or skewers to the transfer instead of toothpicks.

Yes I believe you could do them on the plastic overhead projector sheets. I do mine on clear plastic report covers. I am sure it is probably the same. It really makes for a nicer transfer IMO. They come out really shiney and clear (I have some in my photos) I just glue them on with some buttercream or attach to lollipop sticks if I want them to stand up on the cake.

you can do them on projector sheets just be careful cause if you get the ones that made for you to be able to print on them from your comp one side will become sticky when wet. you can feel the difference of the 2 sides.

I just used wax paper with mine, I could still see the pattern through it. I used sucker sticks (from a craft store) for the "stand up" characters and a little buttercream frosting on the back of the ones on the side to make them stand away from the cake a little bit. Hope that helps!!

Thank you all for all of your wonderful help - I knew you would be a great help. I just have one more question. . . . when you are attaching the lollipop stick for the stand-up figures, at what point do you attach the stick? When you peel it off and then attach the stick with BC?

No I attach the stick with chocolate. I do the whole Ct, then lighly place the stick onto the back of the chocolate and pipe melted chocolate on it. Then I let it set up. YOu can then use the stick to lift off your CT (much easier that way to handle them too!)

Forgive me I am very very new to the CC site and even newer to cake decorating. I have read through all the articles I could but I would like to know what is and how to do a chocolate transfer.

Thanks
