Would 1 cake mix extender recipe be enough to fill a 12x18?
I normally use 2 cake mix extender recipes to fill a 12x18 but I think that I may be using too much and spending too much. I need to cut cost.

I use this recipe in addition to the other ingredients called for on the box:

1 egg
1 c. flour
8 oz. sour cream
1 c sugar
1/3 salt
1 tsp vanilla
1 box pudding

Thanks,
Cynita

I think it would probably work, atleast, with chocolate. Chocolate always seems to rise higher to me. Your layers would obviously be thinner and you definately wouldn't want to bake it as long. You could always try it and see what happens. =)

The cake mix extender increases a box mix to 1 1/2 mixes. This will give you about a 1 - 1 1/2 inch high layer in a 12 x 18" pan. If you want a 2" layer you need at least 2 full mixes. (Possibly a little more). Try 2 mixes and see if this gives you the height you need.
