I was watching the candy castle contest on Food Network and the one gal used a stencil she pressed onto the fondant or buttercream to create a stone pattern. Any idea where I can find one of those? I am going to be doing a castle for a wedding cake in Feb. and it sure would be helpful!

Those are very cool. I'm pretty sure I got mine at Sugarcraft.com. Try there - they had several different stencils to choose from. HTH!

There is also a place called cakesbysam.com that has the brick and cobblestone pattern (and several others). I just ordered the cobblestone for making my neice a castle cake. HTH

That was the late Susan O'Boyle Jacobsen who used that technique. The tool is called an impression mat.

I found a package of impression mats that I used for my castle cake in the polymer clay section at our local Michael's.

I found those too KrazyKross! I haven't used them yet, b/c the cobbles were too small for what I needed. There was a cool wavy design in that pack too - have you tried it?

Have you tried the hobby stores that specialize in trains? That's where I got my bigger ones. They're sturdier than the ones they sell for cakes, too!

I've used the little impression mats you can get in the clay section of michaels, they work pretty well but are only 5x6 in size.

Ooops someone already said that icon_redface.gif

You can buy stencil almost anywhere.. I got a few of them from
Michaels, walmart and JoAnn Fabrics. You don't have to buy at a cake supply store.

Stencils are cheap. You just have to find the design that you want.
Stencils are so easy to do.. I did this the first time I used stencil and I love it. I will do it more.
