Right now to kind of help out at home and earn some extra cash I'm doing a few cakes, holiday orders here and there...mostly for family friends, and posting flyers in our local supermarket but I'm not getting many calls.
I'd like to someday soon when we move get a huge kitchen and actually start a business, but I'm so lost on how to get things up and running. I have self-taught myself everything I do right now, but for months I've been trying to think of a catchy/fun name and get some orders coming in.
I'm also an organized freak, and my main thing I'm curious about is how to charge, create a contract or if any of you have order forms to make things easier.
Any advice, tips, or suggestions you have would be wonderful. With Halloween, Christmas and even Valentine's Day creeping up I'd LOVE to be busy busy.
Right now, my temp. name is "Chanelle's Creations"...but I don't like that very much.

For an organization freak you gotta try CAKEBOSS!! I love it! If you don't know anything about it I will find Kelly's PM. You have to PM her. She and her DH created Cakeboss for decorators. It keeps track of expences, clients, dates, recipes..... did I mention I love it!
Cakeboss offers a month free to try it out. I'm doing the trial version now but I LOVE it. Makes things sooo much easier.
Posters here have thrown contracts back and forth. You can do a search for contracts.
There's also a post going around about free advertisement. That might help you get your name out there and get some orders for the upcoming Holidays.
HTH!
