I have to do a John Deere tractor cake in 2 days and am not really sure where to start. I saw a template saved that I am going to try and print out but have more questions.

I am still new at this so I am stressing!

I have pm'd several people who have done them but have only heard back from one so far.

How would you make the tires so that they don't look "flat"? And how would I make the John Deere "logo"? Any other suggestions would be so much appriciated!

Thanks,
Amy

I used the template in the gallery a few weekends ago...I have never sculpted a cake before. I found it to be pretty easy to do and even managed somehow to cover the darn thing in MMF. I would be glad to help anywhere I can. I will also say that I pmed All4cake and she was a great deal of help to me, so I know she will help you out too.

I did the logo deer as you would a choc. transfer.

NEWTODECORATING,

Your John Deere Tractor cake is great! Can you give me any tips on covering with MMF? How did you get the MMF black? And I have never done a choc. transfer. Can you give tips with that also?

Sorry about all the questions but I have only been doing this for a few months and get nervous about every cake.

Thanks,
Amy

IF you use pound cake it will be easier to carve and if you really want to cheat maybe think about using chocolate doughnuts!

I did a 3-D tractor cake and I used rice krispies for the wheels and covered them in black fondant. to make them perfectly round Iput them in a pan after I made a batch and let them get hard. then I used a large round cookie cutter and cut out circles. I then just cleaned up the edges a bit . i used a little smaller cutter for the front wheels.
I also sat the cake on a small rectangle box to fill up under the tractor and to hold it up . i hope this helps.
