I know some people charge for wedding cake deliveries over a certain distance but what about birthday cakes.

I have to deliver a cake and I might have to travel about 15 miles.

Cake is cake. If you really feel you should charge a delivery fee each time, then either prorate based on distances or on the type of cake, e.g. wedding, birthday, holiday, cupcakes, etc.

The government rate for mileage reimbursement is 39 cents per mile. So a round trip is $11.70. You could either round it up or down. I usually charge $10 for 15 miles.

I always charge a $10 delivery fee. Time is money, plus gas isn't free!

Thanks guys. I don't really want to charge for delivering and I guess 15 miles isn't that far. I live in Houston and I'm not sure where she lives just yet but if it's on the north side of town, it will easily be over 25 miles and I will have to charge for something that far with the gas prices.

Sugarflowers - that's a good suggestion. I should have thought of that too as I'm a state employee and have to utilize that for travel reimbursement. Gee, duh. LOL
