I am making the whimsical cake for a wedding this weekend. I have torted and stacked and everything the directions on this site said in order to prep the cakes. My problem is that on the bottom tier, middle layer the cake is cracked about an inch and a half into the cake. I have 2 more 3 layer tier to assemble on top of it. Is this a disaster waiting to happen? I have had minor cracks before but never on a cake where the tiers sat directly on top of each other. I am I setting myself up for a major disater if I continue?
I have never had the courage to do this type of cake but I will give you a bump! Many, many people here will know your answer!
Thanks. I feel much better about this now. I have been stressing about this anyway because it is so unusual looking to start. I think I can do it. I am so worried that I will get a phone call that the cake crumbled to the floor just as the bride and groom walk into the reception. Maybe I will be lucky and it will wait.
Oh, ShipleyC!
I COMPLETELY understand your angst. Been there! lol
If you follow the directions here on the CC site, though--and keep the "cut outs" where you'll actually be doweling and placing the bottom of the cake pretty level--IT'S GOING TO BE FINE! ![]()
Best of luck, and post your pics,
