I saw this subject addressed on here before, but it's been a while so I wanted to ask this again. I made a BTC recipe from this site (2 sticks butter, 1 cup shortening, etc.). Previously I had used only shortening. I did NOT add salt to this butter BTC and I used the same water I had used on my shortening BTC to smooth the icing. My green (not streaky before and colored mixed in Kitchen Aid) streaked as I tried to smooth it! What happened. Also, this recipe was TOO fluffy. There were too many pores or air pockets (not sure what to call them). Any advice for either problem.

I don't know about the streaky part. But you incorporated too much air in the icng. I let my icing sit for an hour if possible longer. Then use a spatula and stir the icing to cut out the air bubbles. HTH>
