Almond Powder

I have a french recipe that calls for almond powder. Any ideas as do where to buy or better yet make it?

I have read that you can make it by processing small measures of almond meal in a blender, then sifting through a fine sifter. It should be the texture of cake flour. Too much blending will result in either burning and/or ending up with paste.

You can buy it at Whole Foods but it's terribly expensive. My instructor says that you can buy sliced almonds and process them with a little bit of powdered sugar. The cornstarch in the powdered sugar should help prevent clumping.
