I'm hoping somebody can help me. I saw a picture of a cake I would love to have on hand in a magazine mid-August but can't find it now. It was either in a wedding cake magazine or a bridal magazine. I looked today in the cake magazines but couldn't find it.

It is a white cake with black scrolling. The design is not a typical tiered cake. Their are multiple cakes (all round) ranging in size from 3" to 14-16" (at least that's my closest guess). The main and largest tiers sit in the back of a cluster of cakes with a couple of smaller ones stacked on top. Then a smaller sized cake is cut so it sits flush with the first bottom cake. I think there are a total of 6 cakes sitting on the table with this arrangement (ranging in size with the smallest cake up front (3"). There are cakes arranged on the larger of the bottom tiers but nothing exceeds the tier height of the cake in the back.

This is a very difficult description and I described it the only way I knew how. If anyone could help me, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I have no idea what magazines you're talking about, but is this the cake? It's the first thing that came to mind. It is a variation of a Colette Peters cake.

Sorry I'm just getting back with you. For some reason I didn't get an email with your post. Hmmm...

Anyway, I didn't get the picture of the cake your talking about. I thought it might be a Collette Peter's cake but didn't see it on her site but I'll double check. I found it in an actual wedding cake magazine in a Border's but wondering if it might be in an old edition.

If you could repost that picture that would be great! Thanks so much for your help. thumbs_up.gif

Hey everyone,

Thanks for your help! I found what I assume to be the original of the cake I saw in one of Collette's books. I think the original is soooo much better than any imitation. Thanks for steering me in the right direction, Honeydukes!!

It almost sounds like you are describing a "puzzle cake". There are a few pics here in the gallery.
