I am making train carriages for my train cake. I want to try and make wooden looking planks from candy clay. I have never used it before so I need help figuring out the practicality of it.
First question is does it dry hard like fondant?
Second and more important question is will it stay hard when I put it on sides of a buttercream covered carriage?
Any help ot alternative suggestions are appreciated. I want to try something other than plain fondant or buttercream. I am also thinking chocolate fondant but want to explore candy clay first for the taste and texture.
Thank you.
Candy clay is very easy to work with. It softens in you hands so you can mold it any way you want. Then it will harden very quickly and stay hard. It works great with the buttercream with no problem. And it taste great too. I used candy clay on my sponge bob cake and the flower basket both with buttercream and no problems at all.
Good luck.
I also use candy clay and it is very easy to use. If you make a mistake all you need to do is rub it a bit and it will melt with the heat of your hands. Its very easy and fun to work with. You should try it.
