Ok...I want to do Diego ( Dora's cousin) for my grandsons birthday but I want to do a figure or at least the head. I have never done a figure in rice krispies .....so how do you do it? Do you just mold it together and hope the shape comes out right? Do you cover it then in fondant or use icing on it then cover it in fondant? Is there a tutorial out there these?

Someone just had the cutest "blues clues" dog as a big figure for their child. I saw the pic one night ...so dang cute but I don't know how to do that?

Anyone able to help this novice make a spectacular cake for her best (only) grandson??

thanks...Teri

YOu want to use less butter than you normally do. Then you want to squish it really tight. If you have a ball pan, it would make it easier. Then throw it in the fridge for a bit to get it cold so it holds its shape. You can put a very thin coating of buttercream on it but I suggest not too much because it will make them soggy. Then you can cover it in fondant as usual. If you have covered a cake before in fondant you will find this to be much easier.
You also want to dowel it in the middle. Like a big one! Maybe about an inch thick. And you can build your figure from that.
My Boots is half cake and half rice crispy treats. So if you need any help, let me know and I will try to walk you through it.

Thank you so much for your reply. I had a hard time finding this post again. It doesn't show up in my watched topics and since I have worked the last 6 days out of 7 I got behind in my cc reading...lol

Ok...I will try this...hopefully this next week since I want to do a trial run prior to the birthday party...
