Hi all - I am from New York & have been lurking for weeks and weeks at all the incredible creations you all make! I have a couple ?'s and just wondering if anyone can give me some advise. I've made a few cupcake bouquets that have turned out just beautiful and the more I make the more people order. Of course these have just been friends and friends of friends. I made a bouquet yesterday with an xtra xtra large wine glass (you know the kind from Micheal's that are huge). I stuffed the glass with pink tissue paper, made 18 pink rose cupcakes using royal frosting instead of bc. I also used tissue paper in between each cupcake & I was very happy with how they looked. The woman was using it as a center piece for her birthday table. Sorry, I haven't quite mastered pictures on this site yet. My sister, who owns a liquer store wants me to make one for her counter at the store. My question is, has anyone made dummy cupcake bouquets? I would rather use real cupcakes so people can see how they really look. Is there something you can spray on them so they won't start to smell/fall/attract flies? My next ? is regarding pricing. I've seen a few people say they price per cupcake and then a set amount for the basket or pot. Is this how most of you would price? Ok and just 1 more, I'm trying not to be annoying, really I am!! How does everyone sell without using a commercial kitchen. In other words, I'm just baking out of my home. Is it legal to sell baked goods when they were not baked in a commercial kitchen? Any help would be so appreciated!! Thank you all!

Welcome to CC this is a great place to be, very nice people and eager to help out.
As far as selling anything you need to check with your state laws. States differ. Hope you have fun! And again welcome to CC

it IS legal to sell out of your home without a license depending on what state you're in, you'll need to find out for your own state...in the articles tab on top you can find out how to start a cake bus. in your state it will lead you to your state's page that has all the rules and regulations, I'm in Ohio and I can sell out of my home as long as I list my ingredients and put on a label that says it was Home-produced! Oh and I can't advertise, which is fine I get enough bus. by word of mouth. I charge PER bouquet, not per cupcake....and then I just let them know they can usually expect a certain number of cupcakes (approx.) because sometimes the cupcakes bake fuller or smaller and I might be able to shove in one or two extras..all depends. As far as using the real cupcakes for your sisters bouquet for the liquor store.......I'd probably find an alternative......I'll bet you that you could make some cupcake looking things out of styrofoam.....maybe get a small round of foam and put half of a ball on top to give the rounded off top of a cupcake??? I think buttercream would be ok for quite sometime......but I'd be concerned about the cake part starting to deteriorate after a while

If you are wondering how to put a picture on the site you just go to your photos and click on "upload photo" (it's under the big heading that says "Cake Decorating Photo Galleries". Once you do that, you choose the gallery you want it to be in, then clock on "browse" and find the photo you want to upload (when I upload photos I usually size them down to below 100 KB about show up to be about 4'' by 5'' on the screen). After that you can choose a name for the photo you are uploading, type a message about it and it is also a good idea do keywords so if someone wants to find cakes with a certain feature your photo will show up and you will get more views.

HTH! (Hope that helps)
Deborah
