Dear all,
I came to the point where I finally need some machine help. Looking around I found two affordable options - Braun K 3000 and Kenwood Chef. The Braun machine is very multi functional, includes 3 bowls, and it kneading, whisking, shredding, cutting, grating etc. So it is very tempting.
BUT the Kenwood machine designed specially for mixing/kneading, no other functions.

So my question is - what mixers do you use? What to choose? I also think of using it for kneading fondant... I will try to enclose images of both machines. Will be very grateful for help!

Don't know what is available to you there but I would not be without my Kitchen Aid mixer. I have the larger one and my daughter has the smaller one.

These look like really nice mixers but I don't know anything about them.

I have a Cook's which I have really enjoyed. I also have a KA Pro600 which is also a great machine. I honestly can't tell a lot of difference in the two. I did order the combi-whip to go with the KA because it is a smaller bowl (3 qt)and a whip that works for that particular bowl in order to do smaller things. I also have a KA classic and it is stored in my attic. That is a lot smaller and less powerful machine.

Good luck on whichever one you choose.

I am also shopping for a new mixer. I think most people on this sight use a Kitchen Aid. I'm sorry I don't have any help for you. I hope you will get some input from others.

I have the Cook's 700 watt mixer from JCPenney's. You can purchase over the internet at jcpenney.com. It was cheaper then any KA on the market, and had more wattage then any KA on the market so I went with it. I love it! It can handle 4 batches of BC at once and doesn't miss a beat!

I have an old mixer that I can't remember the name of it I wanna say oscer lol.... but it does all that the second photo does... I got it from a neighbor for $50.~ and have never NEVER used it lol. I'm thinkin of selling it on eBay lol.

Ok I suggest going with a Cook's if you can get it icon_smile.gif I have to finish a cake lol... Good luck in your search icon_smile.gif

I second that. Although having all of the functions would be a plus will you use them all, and what about storage? I was going to say go with the Braun because I like the brand but it might have alot of useless stuff.

What all are you going to use it for? Just baking? Do you need all the additional stuff? What is the cost difference? Because if it is cheaper than the other than it is worthall the extras.

I have a hand me down KA that I love I'd like to get some of the attachments but don't need them yet. I Love my KA. I know it's probably more than these but you might be able to find one cheap. They last forever. Mine is older than me. And was well used when i inherited it.

Try the Kitchenaid store on eBay or shopka.com for affordable deals. I have ordered from both and am very satisfied with my KA purchases. KA mixers appear on food network and most cooking shows. Don't think you can go wrong with a KA.

Thanks to everyone for replies!
CourtneysCustomCakes I guess I would use all the accessories. I have a small Kenwood, that is just a shredder/grater. I do use it a lot. So I could easily imagining myself using all the extras. The thing is - would the BC/dough/icing mixer be good enough there?

Pemby -- My next Question is the price difference? If they are the same price and one has more to offer then it may be worth it to get that none. But I'd also research the differences, It seems like the Braun has alot of power, and it's a good name brand.

You know what I'd do. Check on a warranty or return policy, Take it home and try it out, and if it doesn't do what you want it to return it and try the other one. You should know right away if it will work for you.

Let us know what you've decided.

Courtney
