I made a cars cake last night, the bottom layer of cake is a square cake, looks like a road... I am sure that the bottom layer is not strong enough to support the car, and I am afraid to put them together...what should I use to support it? i think dowels won't stay up? What other options are there out there? Thanks for all your help everyone!!! icon_biggrin.gif

is it a standard 2 layer cake? what kind of car (flat or carved)? why would you think dowels wouldn't stand up?

I would think it'd be okay with dowels. Did you put a cake circle under the car? I once did something similar but it was a round on top instead of a car. I thought it would be to heavy but it did fine with the dowels. Hope you find a solution.

thanks, Its a carved car covered in fondant. but the cake is much more dense on the top, tried a new recipe for the bottom and didnt' turn out how I imagined. Maybe dowels will work out, I'll give it a shot and hope for the best!!

What if you use separator tables with the hidden post, that way the second layer can be placed on after delivery. Just a thought. Good Luck.
