I want to try some different fondant and was wondering who here uses Satin Ice and actually LIKES the taste of it... it's so expensive to send for so I wanted to make sure it's good stuff before I get it... hopefully I get some responses!

I love it! It's all I use on my cookies. I have yet to cover a cake with it though, but I have only done a few cakes for my son's birthdays, so eventually I'll get to it!

I called Satin Fine Foods directly to find a local shop that carried it because I couldn't find a place on my own and didn't want to pay for shipping. You might find a place that you didn't know of before. IntoTheOven.com seems to have the best price that I have found online.

I don't personally like the taste, but DH & DD will eat it. I've had a lot more people eat it than ever ate the Wilton yuck, but the texture still turns a lot of people off.

I must say that I've had trouble working with it lately. I think it must be the heat and humidity, because I didn't used to have any problem. It's just been really sticky and ripping a lot. I've been trying to find that happy place between sticky & dry, but haven't been having any luck. I'm not trying to discourage you, I'm just saying that if it's hot and nasty where you are, don't hate it for ripping.

I have found that the really, really fresh tubs of SI are more sticky. I've had a few lately that have been stickier than the first few tubs I've used. I've had to add a little bit of PS to it and then it's fine, but then it also dries out faster.
