Yeah it is much easier to just make the icing chocolate. Just add some cocoa until you get the desired shade. You might have to thin it down a little after.

I tried that too once. The picture is in my photos. The brown just looked kind of nasty dark tanish green yuck. I added a lot of color, and made it better, but the color did start to look better and darken as it stood.

I've made brown a few times.

It just takes a LOT of color to get to the brown, and it needs to stand for a while to "deepen" the coloring. thumbs_up.gif

But yeah--it takes LOTS.

when i made brown i added some cocoa powder and some brown color. It didnt take much color but i didnt want to add alot of cocoa because it will change the consistency of the bc. coolmom is right though if you have some time let it sit for a few minutes, not long maybe 10-15 and it should darken some.

If you are just using it for pumpkin stems - use chocolate frosting. Much easier.

I would just add the cocoal.....tastes better anyhow........you'd have to use like a whole bottle of wilton brown to get it "brown brown"...add cocoa and give yourself a break lol
