When we visited this friend of a friend today (she has her own bakery)... she commented on how nice my flowers looked and mentioned that she would buy flowers from me... my Wilton teacher had already made flowers for this lady once... 4 pans full of buttercream roses and all she gave her was $10!!! If she calls me about making some I want to have a set price... what should I ask?

Well I can't give you a figure ~ just a suggestion to find one of those sugar flower sites that sell royal icing roses pre made and see what they charge. But I can tell you - no way no how would I do that many roses for $10!!! :O My hand would be killing me

Go to the pfeil & holing website www.cakedeco.com. They sell roses of all sorts and you can see how much they charge and how many you get for an idea.

How much will the supplies cost you?
How many roses can you make per hour?
How much are you paying yourself per hour? (I'd do no less than $25 per hour.)

Do the math.

Hmmm.....Can't imagine why this lady isn't making roses for her anymore. I wouldn't make 1 tray for $10.00! I would charge what any other supplier would charge. Don't get in a situation where your doing stuff or nothing unless it's on your terms. I can almost guarantee that when you quote her a realistic price she won't pay it, and say never mind, however, that's better than doing "grunt" work for nothing.
Hope we've helped you.
Amy

I don' t know how much you need to charge but I bought some buttercream roses from a bakery about 3 years ago. I had not taken classes yet and could not do roses but wanted some on a cake I had baked. I paid .75 each for buttercream roses.

Ok I may be silly here but.... Why does a Bakery not make their own roses. Wouldn't that be one of the main things to decorating, Maybe she should take a wilton class. It'll be cheaper than buying roses.

Not that I am trying to loose you business, By all means you should do it. But deffinately not fot $10. You need to make it worth your while.
