How much should I charge for an 8" round cake with FBCT? I have never done one and have no idea how long or complicated they may turn out to be. TIA for any suggestions.

It will depend on your design is it simple or complicated. How big?

If simple I would say $8 if it takes up a lot of the cake if smaller and not a lot of detail maybe $6. It is work and takes some time depending on what you have to do plus you have to make sure the design fits on the cake before making.

I agree- I love how they look but hate all of the time it takes when you've got multiple colors. I usually say $5 for smaller ones and $8-$10 for the bigger ones. Its probably 30 min-1 hour of extra work and so I think that's fair (maybe I work slow!)

She's actually asked me to make 2 of them. One with the Red wing logo and a scooby doo one. I haven't commited to her yet because she wants them the weekend after Thanksgiving, which I cook for, and this is still very new to me. Can they be made in advance and left in the freezer?

I wouldnt see why they couldnt be made a couple of days in advace when I was looking at making them I saw that they lady who was teaching them said that you could easily leave it in the freezer for 48 hours so it depends how early you want to make them.

I think so too-- When you think about that you can freeze buttercream with no issues, I don't see why a fbct would be any different.

I don't charge extra for FBCTs. If I didn't do them I would have to do some other kind of decoration on them. Usually my FBCTs (my last two excluded) don't take me any longer than doing stars or way of putting a image on a cake. I can work on them while the cake is baking and cooling and save myself time during the 'decorating' time.

As far as what to charge for your 8in cake, you need to know how much you spent making it. You want to make atleast double that, triple if you can.
