Ok I'm not baking cookies but I need to know where I may find small square cookie cutters. I plan to make a laptop cake for my dh's 40th birthday. I need a little square cookie cutter to cut the "keys" out from fondant........anybody know where I may be able to find a square cookie cutter the size of laptop keys?
For something like that, I'd roll out the fondant, square it, measure off sizes of keys, and cut.
Yes! I've been looking at my littlest square cutter, which came with the Wilton Fondant Cut Out collection, and wondering what the heck to do with it. Make keyboard keys...of course!
The cutters are a set of three squares, and I found them at either AC Moore or Michael's. Both stores carry them.
I'm guessing at the three sizes here but (1) 2 1/2 " (2) 1 1/2 " and (3) 1/2 " or 3/4 "

Yes, Wilton makes them. They come in a package of several sizes. Here in the Seattle area you can purchase them at Michaels or Joanne's Craft store. If you don't have one of those you can purchase them online at www.wilton.com
Here's a tip: If you ever need a diamond shape purchase these and squeeze them so that they form a diamond.

I agree with checking clay sources. I bought "clay" cutters and they are just the same as the ones sold as fondant/gumpaste cutters for more money. I have round, square, and blossom plunger cutters. Got them on ebay, but I think they do have some in the clay section at the craft store.
Shucks I don't have a Michael's near me.....Hobby Lobby is about 30 mins. away. I wonder if they would have the clay or wilton square cut-outs? I guess maybe I should call before driving. Thanks a bunch you ladies. If I can't find them I'll have to measure and cut by hand. I would rather have a cutter to save on time though.
The brand I bought was Kemper. Kemper Klay Kutters.
Well I decided to make the 30 min. trip to Hobby Lobby because I heard they were having a 50% sale on some scrapbook supplies (my other hobby) so I went and got some scrapping paper and they DID have the wilton square cut outs there so I was able to get that too!! Yipppeee!! I got cake supplies & scrapping supplies all in the same day so I'm a happy lady! LOL
Well I did the cake(picture in my photo album).......its a long story & no one may even want to know this but hubby's b-day was the 12th. My dad died on the 11th but since I had already told my kids we were having a surprise for daddy I went ahead and did the cake anyway. I had already had the keys & logo done because they had needed time to dry. I had already gotten the edible picture of hubby's 1st b-day printed from Wal-Mart bakery but when my dad died that Tuesday I was just going to say forget the whole thing but decided to go ahead w/ plans anyway...it kind of helped keep my occupied anyway so it was ok....I ended up staying up that whole night because I couldn't sleep........anyway I just wanted to show y'all the cake. It could have been better but guess under the circumstances it turned out ok
I am so sorry to hear about your dad. My thoughts are prayers are with you.
