Last week, I tried to make an orange cake and added 1 small box of orange jello to the mix. It gave it a WONDERFUL color and flavor, but it looked like a T. Rex had run rampant over it! icon_mad.gif Are there other adjustments or compensations that must be made when adding Jello to the cake mix? I'm determined to make this cake not only edible, but also presentable somewhere other than in a haunted house! Thanks as always ! - PAT

Please tell me the mix WASN'T a Duncan Hines. We're all experiencing a lot of difficulty with that one!!! (See: http://www.cakecentral.com/cake-decorating-ftopict-32134.html). That might be the root of all your evil this time. icon_cry.gif

Hoping this helps,

I haven't heard of adding jello to the mix. I have heard of adding it after baking to make a "poke" cake.

Sorry I can't be of more help

I've made a strawberry cake by adding strawberry jello and some pureed strawberries to a scratch cake and had no texture issues. I wouldn't have guessed it was an issue with your cake mix, but since I and plenty of other people have added jello to cake without trouble... it's worth playing around and seeing if it works with another recipe or mix!
