So what do you guys think? Thank you sooooo much to everyone who helped me. From tips to getting that much red MMF, advice on how to make the roses, and instructions on how to add/mix in the gum paste...I learned it all from you guys! I'd love to get feedback/comments on these!

I really like that they're all "individual" ... not each so perfect that they seem almost machine-made! Definitely a beautiful job. Applause, applause, applause!

Wow beautiful. How long did it take you to make all those? They came out really really nice. I'm sure your sis will be very happy.

Debbie,
Yes, it is A LOT of roses icon_eek.gif ! I started working on them yesterday at 2:00 and finished at 9:00, so about 7 hours total. And yes, my sis had BETTER be happy!

sweetviolent,
I am sure that there are many different methods to adding the gumpaste, but this is what I did...I bought the gumpaste mix (b/c it was cheaper) and followed the directions on the can. I was told to mix the gumpaste/MMF 50/50, but I didn't have quite enough gumpaste for that, so I just used all I had. It seemed to work fine. The first roses were already starting to harden by the time I finished the last ones.

Well, the red took a while. Someone suggested that I use koolaid, so I did that, but it made it a really light pink (maybe I added it wrong?), soooo, someone else said to color it really bright pink and then add red. I did that too, and then I still had to add a whole container of wilton red red paste. I did make an entire batch of MMF and almost as much gumpast though, so I had a lot to color.

Beautiful roses. One day I hope to have enough time to sit down and do these. Right now I am stealing the tootsie rolls out of the Halloween candy and making roses. icon_smile.gif

Thank you, thank you! I am so glad that everyone likes these! I have made cakes for small gatherings before, but not one where there will be so many people. It helps to have "pre-approval". Yes, the pans I have set up are the pan sizes I will be using for the cake (except the tiers will be 2 layers each). I put the roses around them to make sure that I made enough. I couldn't really think of a more acurate way to do it.

What a clever way to accurately estimate the number of roses you'll need! I'm definitely going to remember your technique.
