What more/less does this need? Another decorator maybe? It is for a Tai Chi class instructor, a man...

I think it looks nice. Maybe some chocolate shavings would help to fill it in.

Chocolate shavings are a good idea, just a little, to reduce the empty area. And, what are they celebrating? All in all, it looks very nice. You could leave it as it is and everything would be beautiful.

Thanks everyone. He got his instruction certificate or degree or whatever they get. It is a German Chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream. The only request was that it said congratulations. Are the roses okay I am still so new to making them? Chocolate shavings all over the top? Or maybe another rose on each side?

I think you may be holdong your rose tip upside down. Small end should be on the top.

I have seen chocolate cakes like this with chocolate dipped strawberries on top. I don't know if you have the supplies for that.

Maybe the Japanese/Chinese symbol for congratulations.

Really nicely done borders.

An additional rose on either side would be tasteful, but not overdone for a man.

Sorry, I have a hard time visualizing the effect of the chocolate curls.

Also looks extremely yummy.

Great job on the roses, too!

They are actually tootsie roll and kisses roses. Thank for the encouragement. I need lots of practice. I am not sure how to do the chocolate curls the last time I did them I had a candy bar but I am fresh out today.

Your roses look great! A couple of suggestions:
Odd numbers are more visually appealing when it comes to design. Perhaps three smaller roses in the middle?
Or do you have a wilton impression set? maybe a scroll design between the flowers?

Also maybe some leaves for the Roses?

Your border is excellent.

I followed the post on here to make the roses. This is my first time with tootsie rolls. Does it need some color I am trying not to get to frilly with it. I have never met this man so I know nothing about him.

I think I will just let it be. If I fuss with it too much I am sure I will mess it up. Thank you so much for all your help. I have looked at your photos and wow for you to like my cake is great. Thanks, Sheila

That looks great! Funny how a couple of simple additions makes it all come together.

I would have centered three roses (with leaves) under the white scroll to fill in the blank space. But the detail you added gave it a nicer touch.
