HAHAHA!!!!!!
You have to be kidding!!!!
That's the most rediculous request I've ever heard of!
kjgjam22, you live in Jamaica - I think a lot of people answering this live in the U.S. interior. The rules are VERY different when you have millions of people who don't know each other and like to sue others, AND a nosy government agency.
Nice as it would be to do this for her, it's best to err on the side of caution... ![]()

in that respect we are different....true. i understand what you are saying but if you were to say to her i will do it but under these conditions then maybe it would have been different.
i dont understand though why everyone says it is "double dipping" if you make enough icing and decorate the cake again and not save the rest if you have a little extra...that way there would be no cross contamination. just another thought. thanks for the reply.
Well WHEW! I thought you were going to say she had half the cake left and wanted to see if she could get a refund for that half! I was expecting much worse!
I've done that for family though - I did it for my husband for a cake he tried to make and put waaaaayyy too much filling in and it was slipping and sliding everywhere...... anyway, they ate some of it and he wanted to bring it to work the next day so I iced it back up for him..... but for a customer.... I agree it's probably best to err on the side of caution....... you never know who is going to sue - it's so sad..... but I'm sure the customer wasn't thinking of that - it's not soooooo strange to me b/c it's something I WOULD do for my own family if I had the icing left over and everything.....
I do agree that you should contact her back at least and let her know you got the message but not until late in the evening and that it is your policy and the health department's policy not to take back any food once it has left your kitchen....... Good luck! Thanks for sharing the story!
Double dipping is when you have an item like a chip or veggie dip it in something (dip) and take a bite and then put it back into the dip--everyone else is eating from. Once the cake has been used for one event it would be kind of tacky to "fix" it and serve at another. Conversation at second event:
Person 1: "The cake looks great! Where did you get it?"
Person with redone cake: "Oh I had a left from a party and well since there was so much left I thought I would have it redone and serve it here."
Person 1: "Oh really?" Thought in head: who or what has touched, licked, sneezed on it?
