On the subject of the plastic containers... I use them often for cupcakes and small round cakes, I buy them from the grocery store bakery dept. I make sure they are clean before using them I have even let them soak in hot soapy water and washed them up. I made the mistake of running one thru the dishwasher.

I buy the white paper boxes from my local craft store, or walmart or if in a pinch I buy them from the grocery store bakery shop for a little more but it's better then braving walmart on a sunday.

I always make sure the plastic ones are clean and free of anything even icing smudges but **it happens and you will notice that plastics do attract link and such. I was walking in the school with the cakes yesterday, nothing at all on the containers, sat them down on the table went back 10 minutes later to open and cut the first one and the lids had dust and lint and stuff on them so again it may NOT be something YOU did it may be something that happened at the time of the "reception" or party what ever it was.

Attached is the picture of the plastic containers I use, not so often, but when needed for cupcakes and small round cakes and such.

Seeing hair on food or close to food is really a big turn off. But the question is how did it get there ? Last summer when I entered the
State Fair, one of the cakes had hair on it. One strand was wrapped around the sides of the cake into the icing, and another strand was embedded on top under a pc. of Cherry. The judges had to really look close at it to decide.. They had to disqualify that entry.

This was clearly an overlook on your part if the hair originated from where you made the cake. I would either refund all of it or part of the money. But the sad part is you will loose some business because of her.

But you will still have loyal customers coning back to you. You win some and you loose some !! Sorry about this unpleasant incident

I am soooooo paranoid about hair. What happened to you is my worst nightmare. I wouldn't worry too much about trying to get a look at the hair. It seems immaterial. If you don't believe she is the type of person to try and scam a free cake then take her at her word give her her money back and move on. YOU WILL LOOSE BUSINESS temporarily but I doubt it will kill your business completely if it is an isolated instance.

I get boxes either on line or from Restaurant Depo.
