Is there a certain order in which you put the scroll work on a cake or do you just start putting it on any way you think looks good?

When I first started doing scroll work I used the Wilton set of scrolls that you can imprint onto crusted BC or fondant. That was good practice, but I've always been a doodler and now I just free-hand it most of the time. I've done lots of different scrolls and think it's a really neat look! Good luck. Another trick I do is when I've scrolled a lot, but something seems to be missing, yet there's not quite enough room for another scroll, I just use a dot of icing. My avatar shows that trick--it's in my photos too.
