Excited, My First Food Event
Business By amandasweetcakes Updated 29 Oct 2006 , 11:03pm by sweetamber
Several months ago I was invited to be a part of our local chamber of commerce food event. There were only 15 different restaurants, etc. who were able to participate. I was actually asked to be a part of it. I felt extremely honored and very nervous. I was plotting and planning for months. I made 4 dummy cakes, 3 doz decorated cookies, my mom had aprons made with my logo, etc., etc. Then I made 7 large cakes for serving, 3 flavors - lemon w/raspberry filling and buttercream icing - choc cake with choc whipped filling, topped with ganache - and hummingbird cake , banana/pineapple with cream cheese icing- as well as cookies for sampling.
Well, the event went off without a hitch. I'm very excited. Everyone was very receptive (300 in attendance), and wanted to know where my store was located and why they hadn't heard of me before. I explained that I work from my home and have only been decorating for 1 1/2 years. Several girls were interested in wedding cakes, which is what I would love to get into. So I'm excited and just wanted to share it with you all.
Thanks for listening.
