I have been asked to make a "bicycle cake" for my co-worker's 7th birthday next month. I really have no clue how I want to accomplish this. I don't work with fondant, I have a problem with buying that expensive stuff and then seeing it thrown away. Anyway, I was thinking of maybe doing a 1/2 sheet cake and carving the bottom like the bottom part of wheels and drawing a bike on there, but I don't really know. Any idea for a simple bicycle cake?
Search the galleries for 'bicycle'...there are several done by different methods. I'd use small round cakes for the wheels and carve a sheet cake for the body. Or if you don't want to carve, use 1/2 a round cake attached to the bottom edge of a sheet cake for each wheel then just outline the bike shape w/icing. Good luck.
