Well Ladies and Gents it is that time again. I know you all have been waiting with baited breath. Yep you guessed it, time for the next segment in What has Mrs. Spongypants (a name a fellow CCer has given me) been up to.
Well here we are with 10 days to finish it, and I may be speaking too soon but I think we just might pull this thing off. I know, I know, I am just as amazed as you are I can assure you.

Ok so what are we looking at here:

1st picyeah yeah yeah its a garage weve all seen it before.

2nd picbefore our little roofie

3rd pic after our little roofieahhh its all starting to make sense now. Wow what a mess my yard isthis I can not stand, apparently I got me some cleaning to do. Tomorrow our stone mason is coming to put stone facing up from the bottom of the roof down. The boys will be back on Monday to putumm roofing up on our roof. And Hubsie wubbsie is gonna put bead board on the underneath of the roof, that I will paint light blue.

4th picits the ever elusive middle wall, this is the kitchen side (bet you thought I was never going to get it up huh?) My wicked handsome, awesome Hubbs sheet rocked that baby last night, and is downstairs as we speak preparing to sheetrock the rest of the kitchen/customer area. Gawd I Love that man.

5th picthe other side of the wall with the doorway.

6th & 7th picthe customer side of the wall before sheetrock. I wrote a little story on one of the pieces of wood so 80 years from now when someone tears down that wall they will hopefully see it and get a little history about the 1st family to live in this house. So that was kind of fun. I also had both kids draw a little picture on it too.

8th picwell its my ceiling (on the kitchen side), not super exciting other than the fact that I was the one who held that da*n heavy as* sheetrock over my head while the Hubbster screwed it in. I can tell you honestly that the swears that were escaping both of our mouths would make the most colorful of truck drivers blush. (no offence to truck drivers, we love you all)

9th picwell its the ceiling again...you can see the lights (cans) I had installed (kind of). Again this is on the kitchen side, the customer side is pretty much the same. I know I knowthe chills, the thrills almost too much to bearbut STICK with me, in a few short days it is going to get really exciting. I may even show you my AWESOME taping skills, but only if you eat all of your broccoli.

10th picgratuitous family shot. Yeah I am a mom I gotta show off the fam. I am not sure why my daughter looks like she just sucked on a lemon but oh well. This pic was taken on the top of Attash Mountain in the famous White Mountains. The pointy peak behind us is Mt Washington. That is one big as*, cold mountain. At any rate if any of you wondered what we all looked like, wonder no more. Now you see why I love my Hubbs so muchisnt he cute?umm sometimesmaybe its just the height that gets me so much, a 64 French teddy bear.

Ok I wish you all could have witnesed the beauty that was my cluessness at the hardware store.
I walked in and handed them Hubbs list and said..."umm I need this stuff" dunce.gif

worked like a charm I had all 3 of them running around filling my order... icon_lol.gifthumbs_up.gif

when they asked me if I needed phillips or flat head drill bits I said "ummm, hmmm the one that looks like a star tip" icon_lol.gificon_rolleyes.gificon_lol.gif
They looked at me like I had three heads and rolled their eyes and got what I needed icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif
Ok the lesson learned here is if sending spongypants to the hardware store make sure your list is really really detailed icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

I love to crack people up, it truly makes my day to know that I have given you all a giggle. Thanks for that.

Thank you for all your kind words about the Fam and your good wishes about the biz. I sit here with 9 days left and Hubbsie just completed sheetrocking the entire kitchen side of the shop yesterday. Poor guy tool the day off from work and spent about 15 hours down there swearing at sheetrock. Even got a screw through his shoe into his foot for his troubles. Any guesses who had to stop by the hospital for a tetnis (sp?) shot this morning? icon_eek.gif We have a whole crew of friends and family coming tomorrow to help fill holes and tape so by the end of the weekend we should (fingers crossed) have our first coat of paint on the walls. The stone mason is en route this am to being getting my front ready for the stone, whihc got delivered yesterday.
Funny story, when the guy came to deliver the stone he asked what we were building nad I told him "a pastry shop". He launces into this whole big story about his wife who works for a local candy maker and is looking to go off on her own and would love some advice. I told him I would love to help her out and would also love to see her menu as I might be intrested in carrying some of her goodies in my shop. He was soooo greatful. Funny how things work huh?

Peacock...ok that is exciting! Is this a redo of your home kitchen or are you putting in a commerical one?

Beach...lol I bet you could tell some stories about spongypants type ladies wandering around with this lost look on their faces...wait you sure it wasn't me?..lol

We are turning our second garage into a cake shop. It's funny, I think we are at just about the same spot in construction. Right now the walls are being taped and textured, and I hope to be painting tomorrow.

Oh wow how cool is that!! You better get with the pictures there lady!I wanna see the mess you are dealing with so I don't feel so all alone...lol
Now you say textured, are you doing plaster walls? We had to sheetrock over our walls even the existing ones becasue the state said we have to have smooth whipeable surfaces, and we couldn't get the plasterer in on time to redo the walls. Boy it would have made things a darn sight easier if we could have just left the existing walls as is leme tell you.

Here ya go! http://forum.cakecentral.com/cake-decorating-ftopict-486933.html
They are putting on something called "hard coat" it's pretty smooth and we are going to paint it with semi-gloss or gloss paint so it's washable.

wow!! Peacock your pics look great! The shop is going to be wonderful and you are so right we are just about at the same place in our construction! That is so exciting.
Well we spent the weekend getting the rest of the sheetrock hung. The mortar is on the out side of the house and the stone is going up on tues. We have the entire first coat of mud on the walls and will spend the rest of the day putting the 2nd coat up and begining to sand. My MIL and I spent all day yesterday cleaning out our basement making room for the endless racks of stuff we will be moving in at icon_eek.gificon_eek.gif THE END OF THE WEEK!!! icon_surprised.gificon_surprised.gificon_surprised.gif
Ok terrified does not even begin to describe it.
So the stresser of the weekend was flooring, and it wasn't looking good until I called the guys that put the florring into my home in 2002 when it is was built. Within 1/2 and hour the guy was here taking measurments and bringin me samples and telling me he could have it done as early as tuesday!! I will NEVER use another flooring company, God love em. He even gave me a break on the price. We were going to go with ceramic tile but due to lack of time and money...lol we have decided to go with vinal whihc in hindsight will be better becasue it will be squishier on the feet.
So this morning my MIL and I are going to wally word to buy some tupperware containers to organize all my cutters and stuff. Then over to home goods for some decorating stuff. Hubbs is at home depot picking up my paint, my new stove (not the commerical oven but we need a reg stove for boiling sugar and making ganache and what not) and all the rest of the stuff we need to get er dun! It's all coming together thumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gif

Hey spongemom, hope the rest of the holiday weekend went well for you. We just came inside from painting. I'm holding my breath to see what it looks like in the day light. icon_lol.gif We did an epoxy floor coating on our floor, which went pretty well. I'll take some more pics tomorrow when we pull up all of the tarps.

Good luck with the floor!
