First wedding cake in nov. about 130 ppl. How many slices should the cake be. I wasn't sure how much extra to have. ANd... what size teirs would look best? I was thinking 6, 8, 10, 12, 16? wouldn't that serve 156ppl, w/out the 6" I like the cakes prob. 3 or 4in diff, but I don't really want to go bigger than a sixteen in. so any advice would be great! thanks, kim

The 16" serves 100 by itself, the 12" serves 56 the 10" serves 39 the 8" serves 25 by the Wilton chart for rounds 4"thick. So figure from there. Happy baking and good luck , post pictures!!!!!

I may be missing something but if the bride is expecting 130 people, then the number of slices should be at least 130.

I would use a 14/12/8 for 130 people.

Here's the wilton chart that I use to determine pricing ... and by the way it's pretty good for determining servings, too! icon_lol.gif

Here's how I cut the cake to get the number of servings from the wilton chart: http://cateritsimple.com/_wsn/page19.html

The great majority of my brides serve the entire cake. Therefore for 100 servings, I'd provide a 6/9/12.

thank you indydebi for posting the wilton site, should of thought of that! it has everything huh? well, somewhere i got a 16" provided 72 slices! so my chart was way off! So if i do a 14, 10, 8, 6 i would have 140 slices!(w/ the 6' for the couple to freeze) does that sound good? Thanks to everyone.

why would you need extra?

the way I look at it, they tell you how many servings they need (say, 125). you give them combinations that get them close (say one combination of teir sizes gives them 120, another gives them 140). They pick which one they want. They then pay a PER SERVING price for the total number of servings they have selected.

Right on! jmt1714. They get the number of servings they pay for.
