I'm going to be making a half sheet cake as a grooms cake for my son's wedding. I'd love to get as much done in advance.

I know I can make the cake in advance and freeze it. Can I ice it in advance (buttercream) and freeze it or will it run?

Can I decorate it (karate image - outlined and stars inside) and freeze it or will that run?

Love to hear your thoughts. Thanks, Robin

I wouldn't freeze a decorated cake, the decorations if done in dark colors they may run when the cake defrost. Now if you MUST, maybe you could just do a crumb coat and once it gets to room temp put another coat on and finish the cake that way.
