Does anyone know if you can use palmer (don't have any idea if that is the correct name) clay the same way you use gumpaste to make flowers? I am trying to make a window display of my cakes for my bakery, and I think the window might be too warm for the reg gumpaste. Also, is there anything that I can spray on my flowers that will keep them longer as display (not to eat). Thanks for the info Donna

I believe the clay melts, my teacher had a shop and she used cold porcelain figures and flowers on hers and it just fades with the passing of the years but it does not melt.

I've used the Sculpey polymer clay for bride-groom, baby, animal figures. The clay is found at Michael's and AC Moore. Lots of colors, and you can blend them to make new colors.

Sculpey also has great clay molds, e.g., flowers, babies, leaves, impression mats....

After baking for a few minutes in the oven the molded pieces arehard and permanent. I think you can paint them for even more brilliant colors or shine.

The clay is soooooooooo easy to work with, especially after struggling with fondant, gum paste, and all the other "stuff" we artists try to make behave! HTH

I beleive that would work, but I believe you do need to buy the clay that you bake verses the one that can harden, because the one that you bake will stay rock hard even in the sun, the one you let air dry can soften in heat or direct sunlight.
