I know a lot of you put pudding and an extra egg in your cake mixes to enhance them. I am going to make a cherry chip cake - didn't find any cherry pudding - could I put cherry jello in. Sounds stupid, I know, but just wondering.

Here is one I use for Lemon cake with Jello don't know why it wouldn't work with cherry.

Recipe:

1 box of yellow cake mix

4 eggs

1 teaspoon of Lemon extract

1 pack of lemon Jell-o gelatin (mix with hot 1 cup of water)

1 cup of hot water (mix with Jell-o gelatin)

¾ cup oil

Mix yellow cake mix & oil together stir by hand until whipped good
Stir in Lemon extract
Stir in eggs (one at a time)
Pour in Gelatin
Stir for another 3-5 min then bake (45 min)

That should work

It makes a real moist flavorful cake.

Good Luck,
Mel,

I have also done it when making a strawberry cake so it should work just fine. It sounds strange but the cake came out good.

Well, I tried it. Unfortunately, I picked up sugar free jello by mistake. That just kind of put my in a frame of mind to fail. Anyhow, I dissolved the jello in hot water, etc. Didn't like the way it looked when baking - the center raised inches above the sides. Wound up tossing it w/o really giving it a chance. Thanks all for your help and would be interested to hear any other such stories.

I make the strawberry cake with strawberry jello also. You just put the jello in the mix dry, like you do the instant pudding. It just flavors it and makes it a bit more tender (because of the sugar). I don't think the sugar free jello will work right without the sugar and you definitely don't want to mix up the jello with water before you put it in.

I added a box of cheesecake pudding to cherry chip cake mix and everyone loved it. Give it a try!
