Hello Everyone,
I am Mona, a new member from Canada. I am making a five tier wedding cake for my God-daughter Rukiyah (Egyptian/Bosnian) and am trying to include flowers, etc., that are not only representative of where we live now but those of the Nile and Bosnia as well.

If anyone has any ideas about how to make a peacock please let me know how - I'll be forever grateful....

About myself, I am Welsh. A retired history and Art teacher who lives in Toronto, Ontario.

Would love to receive any ideas or hear from any of you.

Mona

well, for peacock feathers... what comes to mind is to pipe them out on parchment with royal icing and then color them with luster dust. they could spray out of the top of the cake. they even have gold for accents!

Well I just found this picture it made me thing of doing BC turkeys. I just think you could do the same sort of thing but adapt the colors. Does that make sense?
Another idea could be to wrap the feathers around the cake like one might to with flowers) with the body on top.
Its sound like it's going to be a pretty cake. Good luck.

Feathers could be made out of rice paper and added to the molded body. There's a "Round Feather Wedding Cake" in the gallery, that is wonderful. She (I don't remember her name, Sorry!) used rice paper to make the feathers. Wow, the peacock that was just put in the forum is certainly wonderful.

If you can find an inexpensive ceramic Peacock in the size you are trying to replicate you can use Silicone Plastique and make a mold of the ceramic, then use the mold for gumpaste. Let it dry and paint it with petal dusts thinned with Everclear or alcohol. I can see a cake looking really stunning done in jewel toned fondants, a different color on each tier, and use real Peacock feathers around the base of the cake board. Maybe incorporate a couple in the wedding topper too. I have seen real Peacock feathers for sale on eBAY.
