Hey. Im new. I was looking for some advice and Im hoping someone can help me.
Im making a mad hatter cake for my best friends birthday party. I am not sure what the best kind of frosting would be. She doesnt like the fondant so it would be regular frosting.
The cake is a white chocolate raspberry. She loves store bought frosting, but I dont know how well that would taste on this particular cake.
Does anyone have any advice or ideas on the best icing I could use?
Thanks so much.
much love,
nikki
Hi there and welcome to CC!!!
Mad Hatter cake sounds fun but could you describe how you want it to look? There is a ton of very helpful people around that could help you with this but I think they might need a little more info about the structure and look of it.
I like BC (buttercream) icing..made with 1/2 crisco and 1/2 butter but there are many recipes for icing on CC and there is also a crusting BC icing that looks like fondant but isn't..how cool is that??..just go to recipes tab at the top and search for crusting buttercream...
I am sure others will have more suggestions for you..
Anyhow, for sure post the pics when you are done .![]()
Im actually quite nervous as Ive never done a mad hatter cake before lol. Im going to use the instructions I found on this website for it. Ive made tons of tiered cakes, but never a crooked one!
Im actually only going to have two layers as there isnt alot of people attending the party.
She likes oranges and pinks and purples so I thought I would do alot of crazy dots and lines....Im still picking her brain lol.
Im definately going to look for that recipe on the BC. Thank you!
i love the butter cream frosting. if you are looking for great, wild, neon colors for your hat check out Americolors neons!
