I am about to make my first 3D cake and I know it sounds kinda silly, but I'm not exactly sure as to how I bake them. My aunt gave me some of her old pans the other day. So, do you just put all your batter in one side, stick the other side on top then just bake it? How do you keep the pan from falling over in the oven while cooking? It seems pretty self explainitory, I just wanted to make sure before I ruined a cake with experimentation. Thanks!
There are different methods depending on the pan. Usually there are holes in the lip of the pans, so they can be clipped or tied together. Usually, you put the batter in one side and it will rise into the other half. The clips or ties keep the top from pushing off.
If you have old Wilton pans, you should be able to get the instructions from them.
