This may be a really silly question, but has anyone ever just bought the rice krispie treats at the store to use for molding things instead of making it? I know I've read if you make it to leave out the butter, so I'm not sure how the store bought ones would work with molding things, but I was curious if anyone has tried it.

I always use the store bought ones - I buy them for my son so I have them on hand, plus, I don't want to make an entire batch for the small items. The armadillo in my pics has store bought RKT for the head and the arms.

Me too. Always buy them. Convenience is a wonderful thing.

I use the store bought RKT's. I don't have time to whip up a batch of them in the middle of baking and decorating a cake. I do squeeze or compress them very tightly when I use them.

I've wondered the same...too late! I purchased a mondo-sized bag of RK! My DD and I will be eating RKT 4-ever! icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

I use them all the time as well, I think they are better for modelling than homemade, and I love the convienance of having them on hand.

Ditto nanahaley. Just mash them in your hands and the surface gets pretty smoth. Smooth to the point that I slap the fondant right on there without bc.

I've been gone for a couple of weeks, the reason for the delayed response. Anyway, thanks for the responses. That's great to know. I'm all for convenience!!

Those of you who buy RKT...Do you buy it in bulk? I have never seen any brand other than the small kelloggs boxes with individually wrapped bars!
