I've been having trouble keeping my swags from cracking. I'm using a fondant/gumpaste mixture. What can I do to them to keep from cracking and looking like crap?

I had the same problem. My wilton instructor told me to add piping gel. I haven't tried it yet, but might work.

Try adding a small amount of shortening.

I've never heard of using piping gel. I'll try the shortening idea. What about maybe using some clear vanilla?

I wouldnt try the vanilla, its not so much the liquid you want to add that will just make it sticky like glue.. you want to add shortening to soften it up it sounds like it is a little to dry... maybe a little to much gumtext..

I agree. If you feel the need to add moisture, which is a very messy job, add corn syrup or gluose. Why not test each solution with a small amount of fondant to see which gets you the effect you want.

I've been using half and half f/g mix. Thanks for all your ideas everyone! As we say...we learn something new every day!
