Has anyone ever made braids out of buttercream? I am doing a cake this weekend that would look perfect with a braid type border, but I've never seen this done. Has anyone attempted this? I suppose I could always just do a rope border if all else fails.

You can use any tip to get the look you want. Start in the back--I have not figured out how to gracefully make beginning and end meet.

Imagine your braid to start. Begin at the upper left and pipe at a 45 degree angle to just past your imaginery center. Go to the right and pipe again to just past the center. Keep repeating and you will see the braid appear.

I only did this once, but it looked pretty cool. Took me a while though because it was new and I wanted it just right. The time paid off. Good luck!
