I'm making the mummy cookies. I put the black circle (RI) in the middle of the cookie. Wondering if I can put the "cloth strips" in stiff buttercream rather than MMF or RI. I think it would make a tastier cookie, but the BC would overlap some on top of the RI. Will it make the RI break down? This is for an order so I don't want to take a chance. TIA

If it's for an order, I don't think I would chance it.

I haven't seen any of the cookies/cookie bouquets with that combination of frostings either on CC or any of the cookie bouquet websites....

If your Royal is dry I don't think youwould have a problem, but if you are going to package or stack the cookies the BC will probably get smooshed.

butter cream is made from grease and grease is what breaks down royal icing. i wouldn't.

It is said that grease will ruin royal icing when you are making it. But if grease totally distroyed royal icing (once made or dried), why would we even bother making it to use it with buttercream?

I wouldn't take the chance. It's best to wait for family cookies to experment with that combination.

i put royal icing on butter cream after it has dried... but they will soften. i wouldn't ever put buttercream OVER royal.
