I promise this will be my last post of the day. I need info on putting fresh non-organic roses on a cake. Is it a good idea or a lawsuit waiting to happen?
My mom was a florist for 25 years. No one ever made trouble (lawsuit-wise) about flowers in or on the cake. But I guess nowadays, you never know. Anything is game these days. You're better safe than sorry.
If you're sticking them into the cake, you can use florist tape or ribbon to wrap them. I read another post about it here.
thats a funny way to put it...no its not a lawsuit waiting to happen. especially since they are organic. roses are among the flowers that are edible. as long as the flower is not poisonous you are A ok. i do that all the time. i actually put a poisonous flower on a cake not knowing of course that it was...luckily nothing happened.
fyi that was a flower call alstromeria. so you are cool with the roses.
You need to put a barrier between the cake and the flowers. If you are going to poke them into the cake, use the flower picks.
If you are going to lay them on the cake, you need to put a barrier between the cake and the flowers. Cut some parchment or plastic film to fit beneath the flowers.
Since you say they are non-organic, they could have been treated with pesticides, which will absorb into the cake.
Why risk it?

a lot of the cakes in my album have real flowers in them. I just make sure that the stems are clean. I do only use edible flowers, but never have had a problem. Sometimes the only problems I encounter are brides that don't want flowers in their cake. I wouldn't worry about it though, I really like the look
