Sometimes when I try to use my lustre dusts (brushing it dry into fondant/gumpaste) is grabs in places and goes streaky. I have a black diamond lustre dust that want to put on my cauldron this morning but the little bit I did last night (the fondant was fresh would that effect it?) started to look streaky.
I need to finfish this for my daughter to take to a Halloween party in a few hours can someone please advise??

i had the same problem. i also did it on "fresh" (not dry) fondant. did you tap the brush a bit before dusting it on? i wonder if a larger brush for make up would work, like a blush brush. maybe a fine mist spray bottle, mixed with an extract or alcohal, just finely misting the surface where you want it. i dont have an airbrush or many fancy tools so i'm trying to think alternative....keep at it, your cakes always turn out great.
Thanks melysa I ended up painting it on with alcohol as the streakiness just got worse. However I must be the only person in the world who didn't know you could mix lustre dust and get a different colour!!!!
I put some pink in with the black.... that's the colour on her coat and hat.
I am not sure I am ever going to remove the lustre dust still floating around my kitchen!
