I know this is jumping the gun a little, but I'm going to be working on some cake dummies for a January bridal show and I want to do it in spring colors. For those of you who have cakes booked for next year, have you noticed any trends in the colors that brides are picking?

Thanks in advance!
Beth

I once read that car dealerships go by Paris fashion design colors for their new model line, and carpet makers go by car dealerships colors. So, either you have to fly to Paris for the spring show, go for the grand opening of the new car season at your local dealership or re-carpet your home. icon_biggrin.gif

Well, I just bought a new 2007 van, but it's white, so that won't help me much. LOL Hmm... new carpeting, that's a thought...

Perhaps check into the bridal magazines and see where they are going with flowers, etc. Janice

5) Metallic Embroidery and Fabrics
Metallics have been trendy in fashion recently, as has embroidery and embellishment. In 2006, the two trends will come together with metallic threads being woven into wedding dresses or used in elaborate and simple embroideries. All over shimmer will look a little too "2005" so be sure to use metallics as an accent, rather than a main look.
6) Hot Colors
The two hottest wedding colors will be chocolate brown and a rich orange, although usually not together. Chocolate brown is often paired with pastel colors such as blue, pink or sometimes, though rarely, a celadon green. Rich orange is also a popular choice. Be sure to understand that this is not glaring orange, but rather, one that suggests opulence and often has a bronze undertone. This orange can be paired with red or cream for beautiful results.

I found this information on About.com, HTH!

Cool! Thanks for the link KHalstead! I love the metallic idea too. I'm getting some ideas now. I may go buy a bridal magazine too, after I tell DH. LOL Don't want him to get nervous if he finds it!

I'm doing a show next Spring. Our theme is Shabby Chic. I've never seen it done but it's femine and lots of pastels, yah!!! I'm going to mix vintage glass cake stands with crystal from a chandelier (spelling?) and lots of prints. I found some Rachel Asbury sheets and Target (shabby chic) and are going to mix all together on several cakes. I'm going to use several mediums to get each cake to look different but the same. Khalstead -

Thanks for the link. Now we know what the well dressed bridesmaid will be wearing, and can plan for it. In fact, I found a piece of fabric at Wally World that will be perfect to use as an inspiration!

Those cakes sound like a collection worthy of a runway. Please post pics after your show!
