HELP!!!! I am doing my first wedding cake for someone I don't know. I baked all day yesterday, even having to spend 4 hrs. at my mom's house to cook the 16in heart because my oven is too small. Filling and crumbcoating was going fine untill I got to the 16in. It was fine untill I got to one side and both layers just crumbled. I think it was stress from me having to scoot it a little because when I flipped it wasn't centered. Anyways, WHAT CAN I DO???!!!! it is 12:30pm here now and I have to set up tomarrow at 1:00pm. so 24hrs. do I rebake or is there a way to hide this and maybe make a sheet cake on the side to supplement serving count? How can I hide this? Please HELP! I am very stressed.

I'm sorry you are so stressed, I know the feeling. But take a deep breath and start over. If you try to use this cake it won't hold up under the weight of the cakes above and the whole thing could crumble or topple over. Bake, let it cool completely and then if you have room in your freezer stick the large layers in there to get completely chilled before you try filling and icing them. The worst thing you can do is try and work on a fresh cake straight from the pan or cooling rack.

Take a deep breath and rebake it. You have time. Good luck!

I'm in agreement with all here. Take a deep breath, 'cuz you do have time. Re-bake, chill completely and then proceed. You'll really be happy that you did it this way instead of working with a potentially unstable tier.

Good luck!!!
